Second, you are expected to research and write a Country Comparison Report by the end of the semester to address one question from a list using the concepts and knowledge you accumulate in this course. Please note that the Country Comparison Report will not only address the country you and your group have addressed in the presentation but also compare and contrast this particular country with the other country in the same category specified in the syllabus, more specifically, UK with Japan or USSR/Russia with China, so that you can experience how comparative political scientists compare and contrast.
Members in both USSR/Russia and China groups will address one of the following questions by comparing USSR/Russia and China:
Why did Communism in the Soviet Union collapse while in China it has been able to reform and survive?
You will need to search both the library and Internet sources for information to be able to complete this report. Since it is a research paper, you are expected to consult a variety of sources and to document them using a standard format. You are expected to cite two sources besides your textbooks.
Formatting and Deadline:
The Country Comparison Report is expected to be typed, double-spaced, 3-4 pages long, excluding the title page and bibliography page, with 12pt font and 1-inch margin, although length is generally determined by when you feel an argument has been appropriately defined and substantively supported. It is due on Canvas at 11:59pm on Wednesday, May. 1. Your paper will be checked for plagiarism and AI contents, so be careful to properly cite materials that you draw on and quote. If you are caught plagiarizing or submitting works generated by an AI service, you fail this report and the class. Late papers will NOT be accepted after May. 1 given that Canvas will be closed for access after May. 1.
