Thesis: Systemic racism in america disregards the mental health of black and brown communities which creates the constructs that America blames black people for (war on drugs, gang and gun violence)
Throughout this semester, there have been many topics covered that have peaked interest. Issues of gun violence with black and brown communities took the cake. It is incredibly important to not only analyze a person’s own community, but understand it and try to come up with solutions for problems that people seem to be failing at. For my paper, I would like to write something similar to my response that week, this time building a much more wholistic picture. gun violence in America is a deeply complex issue that has been affected by many event throughout history. Gun violence is a social disease that was born out of lack of compassion for those in low income areas. With Over and under policing of those areas, the general mental health of these communities is of the lowest in the country and that will be the wrapup point of my paper. Even though it may not seem like it, Mental health is the basis of all of this. these communities are discouraged to attend and have very little access to mental healthcare. Many of these people and communities experience, extreme loss due to the violence in their own communities which be only more violence due to the lack of resolution that they get. this has gotten so common that instead of worrying about these people, we simply write them off as untouchable and unfixable. All of these people were once kids with hopes and dreams. No one is born evil, I hope I can prove that in this paper.
