This project will require that students demonstrate an understanding, and the ability to conduct academic research based on credible scholarly sources. The project will be broken down into four parts. The purpose of this is to guide the student in each step of the academic research process to provide the greatest opportunity for mastery and success.
Part I.  Selecting and Submitting a Topic –                                 10%       
Part II.  Submitting an Abstract and intended sources –            20%        
Part III. Submitting a detailed Outline –                                      20%         
Part IV. Submitting Final Paper —                                               50%         
***The Final Paper will serve as your FINAL EXAM- 
Research Paper Guidelines:
Select a current controversial political topic to research. A good sources for inspiration in selecting a topic is:

This is a research paper and must include a minimum of 4 scholarly sources and 10 in text citations (i.e. MLA, Endnotes, or Footnotes, and a bibliography page. [1]
Length: 6-8 pages of content [2]
Format: Times New Roman, 12pt Font, Double Spaced. I will accept A.P.A, M.L.A or Chicago Style format as long as formatting is consistent.
A quality paper will contain these five parts:
1) Statement of the issue.
2) Primary arguments in favor of the issue.
3) Primary arguments for opposing the issue.
4) Analysis of each sides’ argument.
5) Conclusion.
[1] Note that citations and sources are not the same thing. Cover pages and bibliographies will not count toward the page requirement.
[2] You will be penalized for a paper that fails to meet these parameters even if it is longer that the requirement
