Introduction
Background information on the 2024 Presidential Election
Thesis statement
This study delves into the intricate relationship between the 2024 Presidential Election, the presidency, and the potential impact on the nation’s political trajectory. By scrutinizing the chosen president’s policies, decisions, and leadership style, we seek to assess how these factors may contribute to either the realization of a utopian society or the descent into dystopia. Through a nuanced examination of the political landscape, the aim is to illuminate the pivotal role the presidency plays in steering the nation’s course and shaping its collective destiny.

This is a book published by Columbia University and I will be focusing on Chapter 2 : Defining Dystopias to highlight in my paper what it means to have/be a dystopian government. This chapter will help define what a dystopian society includes in the form of government specifically implying a government leadership that can cause a dystopian government and society. I will also be using Chapter 4: Strategies and Tactics of Dystopian Governments as it will help to describe what dystopian government actions are and what they implement to cause dystopia. This will help in explaining not just what dystopia is but what it implies in actions.
Nelson, Michael. The Presidency and the Political System. Sage, 2021.
This book is our current class book and I will be focusing on chapters 5, 6, and 9. These 3 chapters will help explain the importance of the presidency position for American politics and the importance of the symbol of the president for the citizens and society. These chapters will help shape the argument that the presidency is seen as a very influential aspect of American politics and society.

This book is published by Cambridge Scholars and I will be focusing on chapters, Introduction: Revis(it)ing the Rationales of Utopianism and Thomas More, Utopian in Spite of Himself: On Necessary Accidents in Intellectual History. These two chapters will help me in discussing what utopia is and what a utopia means within  socio-political aspects. This will help in discussing and understanding the difference of what a utopia is from a dystopia.

This book is published by Leuven University and what I’ll mainly focusing on is chapters 2 & 5 which discuss what is needed to form a utopian society (chapter 2) and then I will be using chapter 5 aspect of What’s wrong with Utopianism to bring in some depth to my argument that there is A. a form of creation of utopia and dystopia and B. although there are some cons to the argument it could still be possible to achieve either or.
Michael Genovese. The Modern Presidency : Six Debates That Define the Institution. New York: Columbia University Press, 2022. https://search-ebscohost-com.moravian.idm.oclc.org/login.aspx?direct=true&db=nlebk&AN=3162472&site=ehost-live&scope=site.
Published by Columbia University, I will be using alot of this book to discuss the importance of the role the presidency and executive office holds over actions they make regarding the laws and regulations and foreign affairs. The 6th chapter which discusses if the future presidency will be a liberal or nonliberal president especially will be in utilization in forming my argument that the actions taken from the executive presidency branch affect the country and in terms its future course.

This is a secondary source article discussing a survey taken on American people that discusses the importance they see of the presidential election determining to them if the future is bright or not. It would support my additional source of the influence the executive presidency has on the American people and their outlook on the future.
Woodward, Calvin, et al. “Ap Fact Check: Is Us Great Again or Dystopian? GOP Says Both.” AP News, AP News, 20 Apr. 2021, apnews.com/article/virus-outbreak-election-2020-race-and-ethnicity-politics-police-reform-eebf6a1f6ce79cfc00456f27e8e928f7.
This would be a secondary source which will support the ideal concept that through the image of the executive branch and president can be seen as very important to the American people and their actions can determine the future course of events for the nation.

Published by Columbia University and planning to use chapter 6 in the discussion of how a leadership style and decision making of the president can determine the future of the nation.

Published by Cambridge, this book I’ll be focusing on the chapter detailing the importance of why dystopias matter and what the image and possibilities of dystopia can entail for a society. The cause of the fear and or realization of dystopia can have on a society and the implications causing there to be a bigger call for actions.
