ways with his arguments about what education is and is not. If so, you are read

Method:

Read and think about the essay assignment, what
it is asking for in the big picture (a causal analysis that uses your
experience to challenge Percy’s theoretical views on education).
2.
Select two or three quotes from Percy’s essay
that you reflect a connection to your own experience as a student and write
them down.
3.
Explain the quotes in your won words.
4.
Describe the specific experience(s) that you had
educationally which connects with these quotations. You should think very
specific here (an assignment, a reading, a teacher, a situation, a classroom…or
learning outside the classroom like job training, life experience, parental
guidance, etc.)
5.
Explain the connection between the experiences
and Percy’s ideas. NOTE: This does not have to be a positive connection
(supporting his theory). You are welcome to refute, argue for a modification or
adjustment to his ideas if you want to.
6.
Write a tentative thesis statement that clearly
identifies the major idea from his text you are working with and what you
position on it is.
7.
Write any additional details, questions, or
concerns you have that might be useful to bring up during the conference we
will have.
