Think back to 2020 and the COVID-19 pandemic. As a direct result of the pandemic, federal and state governments gave aid to citizens through tax breaks, stimulus checks, eviction protection, and more. You might have benefited from these policies yourself. Throughout the course, you have observed how similar widespread events, such as war, drought, and depression, have shaped new policies and opportunities for governmental aid in the United States.
In these 11 weeks, you have also witnessed the ebbs and flows of social welfare as perspectives changed and different presidents and legislatures came into power. Now, in this Discussion, you consider the most recent decades and what is to come in the future.
