First, follow this tutorial from my colleague, Lauren, about how to draw the human figure. Upload your sketches from this tutorial for accountability.
Then, using the image below as your reference, create as accurate of a drawing as possible on your 9×12 paper. Things that I will be looking for:
Proportion of the figure being as close as you can manage to the original
The model’s head and feet are on the page–start over if you need to!
Using your soft (B) and hard (H) pencils to good effect. Remember that it’s better to start with a hard pencil to map our your drawing, then go right over with a soft pencil for depth
