The bibliographic review is conducted to facilitate researching trends in the field of HRM and
developing actionable steps to address challenges related to a specific topic. Students will be
required to access five articles published between 2020 and 2024 about their selected topic.
Students will then synthesize the information and write a 150-200 word summary for each
article (five summaries total) addressing the following:
1. What is the very specific problem the article addresses and why does it matter?
2. Are there suggestions for how to address the problem?
3. Do the solutions presented solve the issue, in your opinion? If not, what more needs to
be done?

Trends to consider important in 2024 according to the SHRM:
● Career and professional development.
● Diversity of thoughts, ideas and voices.
● Work/life/family balance, control and equilibrium.
● Corporate social responsibility and environmentalism.
● An ethical employer, meaningful work and a management team that cares about
them personally.
● Plus, additional SHRM trends.
The review may include articles accessed through the UNLV Library. I recommend the
ABI/Inform database. Ask for assistance locating this resource if needed.
Do not simply read articles and paraphrase them. While AI is an incredibly useful and
convenient assistant, this tool is not appropriate for this assignment as I am seeking your
original ideas and thoughts about real-world problems and solutions. While AI can help us
solve many dilemmas from where to take our next vacation to how to rewrite our LinkedIn
profiles, you will not always have access to this and other online tools – it is best to not become
dependent on them.
Incorporate distinct concepts / ideas discussed in each article into each 150-200 word
summary. Present solutions as addressed in each article, as well as your opinion on whether or
not the solution is sufficient, and, if not, what more you believe needs to happen to address the
issue. Your original thoughts and ideas should be generally supported by class readings and
you should be creating a synthesis of concepts as opposed to simply repeating information.
