“I hope this letter finds you well. My name is Chenlinyang
Wang,and I am writing to express my sincere gratitude for the opportunity to be
considered for the communication major at University of California, Los
Angeles. I recently received notice that
I have been placed on the waitlist for the Fall Term 2024,and I wanted to
reiterate my strong interest in joining the Bruin’s family.
When I first came to the U.S., I saw the importance of
verbal communication in an unfamiliar environment where we understood each
other even though we were from different countries. In high school, I was immersed in a variety
of courses that dealt with media studies, interpersonal communication, and
organizational communication. I was
particularly fascinated with how the media shapes culture and with influencing
public opinion, so I worked on a project specifically to study how the media in
Asia influences people, which gave me the ability to critically analyze and
interpret different forms of media for the first time in my life. In my spare time, I also love to go out on
the streets and interview people to hear their own stories and absorb the
diversity of information. I believe that
the transformative energy of effective communication can bridge the gap and
that the power of media is limitless. I
especially aspire to communication studies at ucla, which is simultaneously a
vibrant and thought provoking community that far surpasses other schools in
media expression and cultural studies.
When I watch the official account of ucla, the videos always make me
very excited, and the look of ucla students working hard for their dreams is
exactly the kind of community I have and am looking forward to joining, the sun
of Southern California and the passion of ucla are the place where dreams
begin, and I am eager to make my own
contribution to the vibrant communication community of ucla and continue my
personal I am eager to contribute to the vibrant communications community at
UCLA and to continue my personal growth here.”
