OVERVIEW
As a reading specialist or a curriculum and instruction specialist, you may be called on to
provide instructional support for novice teachers. In this assignment, you will provide a
professional development presentation related to the whole group lesson for upper elementary
grade lesson which you developed in your Lesson Plans: Whole Class Comprehension
Assignment.
INSTRUCTIONS
The professional development presentation should be 7-10 minutes in length and focus on the
comprehension strategy or method used during the Lesson Plans: Whole Class Comprehension
Assignment. The presentation will be recorded using web-based presentation tools, such as
Adobe Creative Cloud Express, Canva, Prezi, Visme, Loom, etc. Record the presentation so you
can use the presentation as a training opportunity for new teachers.
Afterwards, watch the video recording. Reflect on your presentation delivery and content. Write
a reflective response that describes the strengths and limitations (areas for improvement) of the
presentation. Finally, reflect on how your video can be a resource for novice teachers. In
particular, address how effective literacy instruction was modeled in the video. The reflective
response should be a minimum of 300 words. Upload both the link to the video and the reflective
response in Canvas at the same time.
Professional Development Presentation Guidelines:
1. Create a video presentation using a free web-based presentation tool.
2. Include the following in your professional development presentation:
 Introduction: Name, Course, Semester, and Year
 Overview of the topic
 Two to three learning outcomes for the presentation
 Explain the major components of your comprehension strategy and how it supports
the comprehension of informational texts.
i. Include your research to make evidence-based connections to the topic.
 Demonstrate your comprehension strategy.
i. Use the informational text included in the Lesson Plans: Whole Class
Comprehension Assignment and demonstrate your comprehension strategy.
ii. Provide 1-2 additional examples of your strategy that can be differentiated.
iii. Include your digital technology integration and how it can be used as
additional support for the lesson.

 Citation of sources that include textbook and a minimum of two scholarly resources
Video Notes:
 You are required to use your voice to narrate the video presentation.
 Do not read from the textbook or other resources.
 Do not embed other videos.
 Presentation must be 7-10 minutes, clearly narrated, and visually appealing.
 Upload your video to Canvas.
 Check your sharing permissions on your video. Be sure that the professor does not need a
password to access the video link.
