Education is very complex. Each school is so different and within
each district there are individual classrooms that all need something
special to be successful. There are many issues that education faces.
Our classes, communities, state and world are continuously changing
every day. What are some common trends we see that may be affecting our
special educational system both positive or negativity and/or both? How
do support our educational system? How does this affect our families?
2. Task Background
Throughout this course so far, we have been examining different types of special education.
Socrates once said that the unexamined life is not worth living. And so, how do we examine our own educational system?
Some questions to ask:
1. Explain a current trend in special education
2. Why is this interesting to you?
3. How is this affecting the class?
4. How is this affecting the family/child?
5. What can be done to support the child and family in this area?
3. Task Prompt & Scenario
Your task is to examine special education in a critical,
self-reflective. In your presentation, invoke what you
have gained from our previous readings about education and culture, learning experiences as well as new knowledge from the community. You
will be asked to share your presentation whole group via a recording
from CANVAS.
