Following the model offered by Spadoni (analyses of Groundhog Day, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, and Shrek) produce a short essay (1000-1100 words) offering an interpretation of one film from the course in which you use the concepts of referential, explicit, implicit and symptomatic meaning. Of course you can also use (and will probably need to) the rest of the concepts presented in the book to make your case. Remember that the ultimate goal of uncovering symptomatic meaning is to reveal the ideology behind the film (and please, do not reduce “ideology” to its most political, everyday use).
