Write a 500-word essay creating a formal analysis of the new artwork. As a reminder, chapter 4 defines a formal analysis as an examination of the elements and principles of design present in an artwork and the process of deriving meaning from how those elements and principles are used by visual artists to communicate a concept, idea, or emotion. A formal analysis contains four aspects: description, analysis, interpretation, and evaluation. Your essay should be broken up into these four aspects and label each aspect in bold.

Art Reflection Paper 2
COLLAPSE
Description
Among the various artworks viewed in different environments, one of the notable was in a library setup. The artwork “The Golden Horizon” was painted by George Miller, an American artist, and is mounted as a landscape painting in the reading section of the Eastwood Public Library. The art has a dimension of 32×48 inches, with the medium of oil painting on canvas. This art portrays a countryside evening scene with a serene sunset in what seems to be a rural scene. The focalization entails a large field of golden wheat swayed by the breeze and what appears like dry wheat at a distance. A path that seems obstructed by grasses and a tree ahead of it is traced through the field and leads to a small and distant house half-hidden behind the row of trees in what seems like a valley.
Analysis
Miller’s work uses a warm color scheme with the main concentration on gold, orange, and some tones of green to express the warm summer evening. The broad, informal lines of the brushwork give the impression of the swaying of the wheat field, which also conveys the impression of a breeze. Due to creating a clear perspective along the dirt path, a two-dimensional perspective guides the viewer’s eyes into the farmhouse with a red roof, creating depth. The angles of the trees are all vertical, contrasting with the horizontal line of the field, adding balance to the composure. The different shades of colors on the land, with a house in what seems like a valley with intense warmth at a distance than the cooler tones closer, indicate not only a sense of time but also the vastness of the land.
Interpretation
In some ways, “The Golden Horizon” appears to praise and celebrate the beauty and tranquility of countryside life, particularly during autumn. The picture’s warm and golden colors and the softly moving wheat create a sense of peace and fulfillment. This path with grass leading to the farmhouse can be interpreted as a path of life, implying that it leads somewhere comfortable like home, providing a feeling of coziness and comfort following a long day of struggles and efforts. The house in the distance, partially obscured, could represent the concept of home and shelter, offering comfort and relief after a long day at work. With its subjective approach, the painting makes the spectator pause and think about the nature of the countryside and the peaceful corner of the world for everyday life.
Evaluation
The painting by Miller is an excellent example of a well-done painting of an autumn evening in rural America. In this case, the artist’s effective use of color and light gives this work an aspect that perfectly depicts warmth and peace. The essential elements of the work are balanced and show a clear perspective throughout the painting, guiding the viewer’s eye. Ultimately, due to the chosen combination of colors and subjects, the piece creates the impression of nostalgia and relaxation, thus making it rather calming and thoughtful. Placed in the Eastwood Public Library, it brings a serene and natural scenery to the fair artsy experience. Therefore, it offers people a chance to look at beautiful oil paintings and appreciate nature in what can be termed a quiet moment of life, making them think of the art and its depiction.
