For this week, watch at least five fanvids or AMVs (Anime Music Videos) related to the fandom I chose, which is the One Direction (directioners) fandom. These videos should be at least a minute long and should combine clips from the media you are studying with popular music.
Here is a list of some different types of vids:
Character vids: Focus on a single character, often offer an interpretation of a character’s psychology, motivations, and/or character development.
Shipping vids: Focus on a specific ship, often making an argument for and offering evidence of sexual and/or romantic subtext between characters.
Slash vids: Like slash fic, slash vids focus on m/m ships.
AU vids (Ficvids): Use footage of characters and actors to create alternative narratives that either diverge from canon or transport characters into a different genre or setting.
Cross-over vids: Bring together characters from different media properties.

Recruiter vids: Made for members outside of the fandom or sub-fandom, these vids are attempt to “recruit” people to watch a show or ship certain characters.
Write a blog post analyzing the fanvids that you watched this week. Here are some questions to get you started (you do not have to answer all or any of them). What is the purpose of this vid? What songs are paired with clips from the source text? What are the connections between them? What story does the combination of song and images construct? How do different songs shape interpretations of characters and relationships? How do fans build arguments through vids? What pleasure do fans experience looking at them? What about them generates that pleasure?
