In this assignment, you are required to explain what you think is an important issue in your
life or in the life of people your age. Imagine that you have to write to people who can solve
this problem but are not familiar with it.
Explain the problem clearly in order to convince your audience that the problem is an

supporting arguments and the opposing view? Are solutions to the problem proposed?
• Does the writer guide the reader through the problem, instruct, persuade and
entertain?
• Is the introduction and conclusion thorough and engaging? Are transitions used to
enhance the flow of the essay? Does the essay have a clear main point and a
recognizable thesis statement? Is the thesis supported throughout the essay? Is the
essay organized in a logical fashion?
• Does the essay demonstrate control over grammar, spelling, and punctuation?
