PLEASE RESPOND TO THE FOLLOWING POST:
My topic of interest, “Implementing Aerobic Exercise for Mental Health Patients with Depression and PTSD for Veterans,” seeks to improve the overall well-being and quality of life for veterans. Treating depression is a better intervention that can help veterans avoid its severe symptoms, including drug and substance abuse, relationship and family issues, frustration, loss of interest, emptiness, and hopelessness (Collins et al., 2023). Considering that this is one of the most widely researched areas that has drawn the attention of several scholars, sufficient data is available, allowing me to examine, evaluate, and analyze various views, perspectives, and theories for better results and outcomes.
The outcomes I would like to see include more information that explains the rationale behind the relationship between aerobic exercise and depression reduction. I would also like to see veterans living depression-free and improving their quality of life by exhibiting no or reduced levels of symptoms of depression. I would measure these outcomes through a qualitative approach that will involve administering questionnaires to the veterans before and after the implementation of aerobic exercise to gather their feedback. The questionnaire effectively provides the most informative and raw data that will help understand the quality of life of these veterans.
Aiken et al. (2017) measured the outcomes of their study in several ways. They calculated nursing skills by dividing the number of professional nurses by the number of direct care nursing personnel of all qualifications. Secondly, they divided the number of nursing practitioners by the number of patients in the nurses’ unit on their last shift to measure total staffing. They used the practice environment scale of the Nursing Work Index to measure the nurse’s work environment. They utilized the attainment of a bachelor’s degree to measure nurse education. Patient mortality was obtained from patients’ chats, while the quality of patient care and patient safety were measured from patient responses. Finally, nurses’ responses and the Maslach Burnout Inventory measured nurse burnout and dissatisfaction.
