Summative Assessment: Student-Led Learning Proposal
Exam Content
The primary goal of teachers is to create an educational environment where students have a sense of ownership and agency in their learning journey. By shifting the focus from a teacher-centered approach to one that embraces student-led or self-directed learning, educators aim to empower students to become active participants in their education, fostering critical thinking, collaboration, and a love for learning.
For this assessment, assume that you are a teacher leader who has successfully implemented student-led learning practices in your classroom for years. Your school administrator would like you to propose topics and information he could use to convince other teachers in the school to implement the practices.
Write an 875- to 1,050-word proposal in which you explain the fundamentals of student-led learning and the benefits of creating a student-led classroom to provide a more supportive and engaging learning environment for your students. Include the following information in your proposal:
Purpose: Explain the purpose and desired outcomes of student-led learning, including a description of how incorporating student-led learning and creating a student-led classroom provides more support and deeper student engagement.
Dispositions and Beliefs: Describe teacher and student behaviors, communication practices, and interpersonal skills that support student-led learning, including an explanation of your beliefs on the role of a teacher in establishing and maintaining a supportive and engaging learning environment for students.
Classroom Characteristics: Describe the ideal physical setup and characteristics of a student-led classroom, including an explanation of how you will include students in your development of the student-led classroom.
Methods of Engagement: Describe at least 2 methods and/or strategies for engaging learners in a student-led classroom, including an explanation of how a student-led classroom provides a supportive learning environment for all learners.
Technology Incorporation: Describe at least 2 ways you will incorporate technology in a student-led classroom, including an explanation of how each technology tool promotes a supportive and engaging learning environment.
Cite sources to support your proposal, and format your citations and references according to APA guidelines.
