What does it mean to be a professional in the early childhood field? Whether you’re
already working in the field or considering what your role is going to be, this question

fostering healthy development and learning. Also, take time to reflect on the critical ethics
of a profession that nurtures our youngest and most vulnerable children. This
Competency begins your journey of building a rich appreciation and deep understanding
of the knowledge and significant responsibilities of qualified early childhood
professionals. At the same time, your work on this Competency and those to follow will
help you recognize and possibly elevate your goals, intentions, and pride in working in
the field.
