Project: Part 3 – Confidence Intervals Assignment For this part of the project and based on the class sample, you will create a 95% confidence interval for the mean age and the proportion of males in the population of all online college students. Note: The goal of the project is to practice making a confidence interval for a mean and proportion with real data. Do not worry about failed assumptions tests and do not make corrections for small sample size. Use primary methods described in text and used on homework. Using the same excel sheet you submitted for Part 2, answer the following in the “Module 5” tab:  For the average age, form a 95% confidence interval: o What distribution should be used? o What is the critical value? o What is the error bound? o What is the lower bound? o What is the upper bound? o How do we interpret the results, in context of our study?  For the proportion of males, form a 95% confidence interval: o What distribution should be used? o What is the critical value? o What is the error bound? o What is the lower bound? o What is the upper bound? o How do we interpret the results, in context of our study? Based on the class sample for both age and gender, you will create a 95% confidence interval for the mean age and the proportion of males in the population of all online college students. Using the same sheet as last week, you will complete the project using the “week 5” tab. This will copy the mean and standard deviation you found from week 3 so be sure to correct any errors with these values on the week 3 tab before completing the week 5 project. There are a few places for “calculations”, this is where you “show your work” and it is required. Just type the numbers and calculations you use to obtain your answer in the box provided, for example, “3+5” would show how the answer 8 was found. Do not put formulas here, put the numbers you used to calculate the answer you obtained. A few hints as you do the project: Check your notes/videos on which distribution to use for a mean when we do not know the population standard deviation. Also, check which distribution we use for proportions, proportions always use the same distribution. When you get the interpretation step, be sure to include the context of what we are taking about. For example, if birth weight of a sample of babies has a lower bound of 6 lbs and an upper bound of 8.3 lbs I could interpret this as, “We are 95% confident the mean birth weight of babies is between 6 lbs and 8.3 lbs”.
