YOU are living through a historical moment. We are always living in historically

YOU are living through a historical moment. We are always living in historically important times, but we don’t always recognize them as such. You’ve learned this semester that historical research is based on the interpretation of reliable primary and secondary sources. This Great Pause has impacted us all but in different ways. This final exam will have you reflect on how the present is connected to the past.
Prompt:
This is your ONLY final exam. It is pass/fail. I’m not looking for perfection but for you to demonstrate growth and learning. Show me you can think historically and use historical thinking skills to analyze the past.
Choose one (1) woman discussed in the Module 8 learning resources (ex., assigned readings or videos). There may be a lot written about her in the module or you may want to do outside reliable research. Just pick someone who resonates. For example, choose a photographer we learned about if you like taking photos. If you’re an immigrant, you could choose someone who also immigrated to the United States. Once you pick your person, compare and contrast her with your life. What similar themes emerge when you compare and contrast your life to hers? Who was she, and what did she accomplish in her life? How does she inspire you? How did she change history? Make sure to let her “speak” in your paper by providing direct quotations with citations from her.
Provide evidence, historical context, and details. You can share a personal insight, but remember it’s not a journal entry or social media post. Write in a way that shows your historical thinking skills, which we’ve been working on all term.
Instructions:
* Spell/grammar check your work in another document first. Use paragraphs. Make this your best writing yet. Show improvement and strong writing skills.
* Be specific. Can you name a date, person, or event? What evidence can you share? Provide direct quotes and cite them.
* What is the historical context? Remember, history doesn’t happen in a vacuum. It’s all connected.
* To have the potential to earn full credit, the minimum length is two pages of writing (college standard: double-spaced, 12-inch font, plain font style, 1-inch margins). No title page.
* Any work with AI-generated content and/or plagiarism WILL earn a zero and will cause your earned score to drop significantly, possibly making it impossible for you to pass the course. Submit original work with citations only.
