– Your paper does not need to be an argument strictly in-support-of or strictly critical-of a theory.
Guide: Paper should have 5 sections
Introduction: introduce the paper and its goal. Clearly indicate (and bold) your argument on page 1
(should be 1 sentence). Argument should clearly indicate how effectively a theory explains a crime.
Summary: of film, the crimes/criminals, and other details relevant to your argument
Application: Explain the selected theory and how it would explain crime in the film.
Discussion: Assess the theoretical explanation of the crimes. What are strengths and weaknesses of the theory’s explanation?
Conclusion: The end of the paper should summarize your argument and acknowledge 1 limitation.
Research and Referencing: Use at least 8 academic articles about the theory you are discussing. Cite sources on a separate referencing page. Do not cite lectures or textbooks. You should use appropriate academic referencing styles. The specific referencing style used is your choice.
Format: Papers should be submitted in .doc format (word file) and be double spaced with one-inch margins. Use size-12 Times New Roman font. Do not include a title page. Put name, ID, and title at the top of page 1.
Submission: Submit a Microsoft Word document to D2L. Late assignments will be penalized 5% per day.
Grading: due to the number of students in this class, feedback will be limited. Papers will be evaluated on:
Thinking: The quality of your argument and reasoning
Knowledge: The depth of your knowledge of the hacktivism, the operation, and related topics
Writing: Your presentation style (structure, grammar, referencing, etc.)
