One of the key factors of sustainable tourism is the involvement
of locals in the tourism industry. The lack of local participation in
tourism planning can lead to much discontentment and their rejection of tourism
development.
You are tasked with the responsibility to create a Community
Based Tourism Program in your destination. Your program should be held over one
week and should involve locals in various activities that will bring income to
them. Your program must include at least one-night accommodation with the
locals.
In your program:
1. Identify the Country – Historical background
of the destination. (5 points)
2. Name, and describe the community where the
program will exist. Include a map to indicate the community chosen and describe
any special features of the community. (10 points)
3. Identify the theme of the project. Why did you
select this theme? (5 points)
4. Provide a daily itinerary from the arrival of
visitors to their departure. (15 points)
5. Identify the jobs created by your
proposal. (5 points)
6. Identify the partnerships (private and public)
that will be required to make your program successful, e.g., funding,
marketing, accommodation, transportation, food service. Please be specific. (10
points)
7. Identify five guidelines that you will give to
your visitors to ensure that they respect the community. (10 points)
Submission Guidelines
You will create a video-narrated PowerPoint
presentation. Business attire is required.
You are required to answer the questions in the order
presented above.
You must provide at least three (3) references in the
APA format, not including Wikipedia sources, to support your presentation.
There is no required length of slides.
Slides must be labeled appropriately.
Images must be used to enhance slides where necessary.
You will be graded on
your knowledge and understanding of your country and community, and
language, and the organization and layout of your presentation.
