After completing the readings and videos in Unit 2, you will complete this assignment. To demonstrate your Information Literacy skills, you will select and examine TWO articles and determine their level of credibility based on the CRAAP test criteria. Ideally, these articles will be related to your understanding of leadership as it relates to your future or current profession.
Step 1:
Identify a topic about leadership related to your professional field of interest. (For example, management strategies in aviation, or leadership in nursing, or managing difficult employees in business; compassionate leadership styles)
Find 2 (two) articles related to your chosen leadership topic (one scholarly and one other).A scholarly, academic article on leadership related to your chosen topic your profession of interest. This article should be a recent (written within the last 10 years) scholarly, academic article. This article must be peer-reviewed by an academic scholarly journal (you can use WMU library or Google Scholar) What is peer-reviewed research?
Any article of your choice on the same topic. This should be a recent (written within the last 5 years). This article could be from any online news, business, education, or other field-related source.
Step 2:
List each article’s reference information and provide a link to or attach the article.
Analyze the validity of your TWO sources using the CRAAP Test worksheet from this unit and any other guidelines/checklists from Tabs 1-6 from the WMU University Libraries Media Literacy Guide. Complete 1 CRAAP Test Worksheet for each of the articles.
Step 3:
Briefly present your analysis in a document that you will submit. For each article, answer the following:How does each source meet or not meet) each of the criteria on the CRAAP Test worksheet or library checklist?
Do you believe the source to be credible overall? How so? Why or why not.
Conclude by answering: Why is being able to determine the currency, relevance, authority, accuracy, and purpose/intent of information necessary for work in your major or intended career field?
Step 4:
Be sure to submit the worksheet for each article
