Purpose: The Article Project is designed to allow you to demonstrate deeper understanding and application of medical terminology.
Overview: An Article will be obtained from a professional, peer-reviewed medical journal (see example list below). Read the article and highlight the medical terms within the article; include the article with highlighted terms as part of the submission. List the highlighted words and divide/break the terms into word parts as appropriate. For each word, provide the appropriate definition. In the write-up include the article citation, a statement about why you chose the article, provide a brief summary of the article and include a summary of learning from reading the article having taken this medical terminology course.

STEP 2: Cite the article source with APA or AMA format  (5 points)
STEP 3: Provide a brief statement about why you chose the article (5 points).
STEP 4: Read the article and highlight 20 medical terms. (20 points)
Please be sure that at least 15 of the terms include at least 3 word parts such as: 2 roots with a suffix and/or a prefix (e.g. Cardiomyopathy) or a prefix, a root, and a suffix (e.g. hypoglycemia).
If you need to combine 2 articles on the same topic to find 20 terms that meet the complexity criteria, that is fine. 
You will submit the article with the terms highlighted. 
STEP 5: Provide a brief summary of the article. (10 points)
STEP 6: Terms: (50 points)
List the terms
break into component parts
provide complete definitions.
Example:
Cardiomyopathy: cardi/o/my/o/pathy – A disease state of the heart muscle.
Hypoglycemia: hypo/glyc/emia – A blood condition with low levels of blood glucose (sugar)
STEP 7: Provide a summary paragraph noting what you learned, what you found to be interesting or new and why.  Be sure to include how your experience learning medical terminology impacted your experience/process with this assignment. (10 points)
