After reviewing the instructional materials listed above, compose a complete dra

After reviewing the instructional materials listed above, compose a complete draft of your profile for feedback from your instructor and peers.  As a reminder, here are the main project requirements listed in the project description document:
Genre: Profile located in an online publication that might be found on a city or community website
Subject: A local small business or organization. Be sure to identify and describe the geographical location.
Audience: An audience in the community where the business or organization is located
Title: Something creative that indicates the topic and purpose of the profile; center your title at the top of the draft
Your name: Center your first and last name below the title. No need to use MLA/APA identification headers
Length: 1000 words MINIMUM. No maximum, but don’t add unnecessary extra text.
Multimodality: Include at least four visuals to support and enhance the profile. Videos can also be included. Use captions below your images. Include hyperlinks, to your organizations website, social media, and any other online sources that are relevant.
Wrap your text: Integrate images naturally, not interrupting the flow and organization of the text.
Format: Microsoft Word or PDF file. Use the baseline formatting rules we have practiced. Like all written work in this course, the document should be in a 12-pt font, double-spaced,
Step 2: Assess Your Own Profile Project Feedback Draft
At the end of your profile draft document, write a one-page self-assessment of your profile draft, in which you address the following:
What was the main idea you wanted to communicate to your readers?
What are 2-3 strong points of your draft?
Discuss 2-3 areas that you feel need improvement.
Include 3-4 questions you have for your reader.
Include the self-assessment within your draft document. Make sure it is clearly separated from your draft, ideally on a new page. Do not include it as a separate document or in the “Comments” area.
In an upcoming assignment, you’ll learn about genres in general and the profile genre specifically. For now, know that the “profile” genre has the following characteristics (or conventions):
Tells a specific story
Uses descriptive language (sensory details)
Draws on primary research such as:
Interviews
Sensory details taken from direct observations
Embraces multimedia (such as images, photographs, and videos)
In addition to these genre conventions, your profile should achieve either of the following goals:
Highlight a significant or surprising impact that the business or organization has had on the community that isn’t obviously connected to its surface-level identity (its practical function).
Highlight something meaningful about the business or organization that readers couldn’t learn about on their own by Googling the business or organization.
To help you figure out the goal of your profile, you will need to spend time gathering information (primary research) about your community business or organization. To gather primary research data and information, you should do as many of the following as you can:
Interview members of the business or organization.
Interview patrons, supporters, or other community members involved with the business or organization.
Gather observational data while visiting the business or organization.
Gather informational data from the business or organization’s websites or social media posts on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, etc.
Note: You will need to keep a detailed record of all of the primary research data you gather. You should also make an audio and/or visual recording of any interviews you conduct.
Guidelines for Topic Selection
The business or organization does not need to have a physical location. An online business/organization is acceptable provided it has a direct impact on the local community where you currently live.
If you choose a business for your subject, note that franchises/national chains are not valid choices for this project. Keep your focus on smaller, truly local businesses. If you choose an organization for your subject, larger national organizations are valid for this project as long as they have a presence (like an office or chapter) in the local community that you will focus on.
For any business or organization you choose, ensure it is large enough to have the kind of public presence needed to complete this project.
Examples of suitable subjects for this project:
A comic book/gaming store
A nonprofit thrift store in your small town
A vegan bakery
A local nonprofit that runs a shelter for LGBTQ teens
Your local Planned Parenthood clinic
An online meditation group
Note: As you need to be able to remain objective, you cannot select a business or organization that you work at or own, or that is owned by a family member.

Project Rubric
Audience Awareness
Voice, tone, and level of formality are audience-appropriate given the “profile” genre and the rhetorical situation.
Introduction
Profile has a creative and relevant title.
Grabs readers’ attention effectively and persuades them to read further.
Identifies the subject of the profile and provides relevant context.
Contains a clear thesis that prepares readers for the content of the profile.
Incorporation of Primary Research Material
Multiple types of primary data are incorporated effectively and are meaningful to the goal of the profile.
Enough primary research data is included for the reader to evaluate the claims made and support the key takeaway.
Highlights a significant or surprising impact of the business or organization on its local community that isn’t obviously connected to its surface-level identity.
All elements of the profile consistently work to help illuminate a key takeaway for readers and “prove” the thesis given in the introduction.
Conclusion
Effectively summarizes the main ideas of the profile.
Provides closure to the profile and leaves a strong final impression on readers.
Multimodality
At least four visuals are included.
Visuals add value to the profile’s takeaway for readers.
Visuals are effectively placed and synthesized within the surrounding text of the profile.
Visual inclusions supplement and complement, not dominate, the overall profile.
Revised Draft Preparation
There is clear evidence of significant revision from the previous draft based on Instructor, Writing Mentor, and peer feedback.
The profile is structured logically for the genre and organized effectively with clear transitions used between ideas/paragraphs.
The document is formatted in an aesthetically pleasing, reader-centered way appropriate for the genre.
