For this assignment, the student will select and conduct a literature review of a child abuse and neglect issue. The student can select a similar topic to what was chosen for Assignment 1 but should go into greater detail and depth; alternatively, a different topic can be selected with prior approval by the instructor (approval should be obtained by the end of week 5). Again, if this paper covers a topic similar to what was covered in Assignment 1 then it should add substantially to what was previously presented.
The student should discuss the practical implications of the identified issue. If relevant, they will need to include a review of any controversies in the research literature pertaining to the topic. Based on their research, the student will also present suggestions regarding future research (empirical or theoretical) and clinical directions (e.g., practice guidelines, agency or government policies, etc.). The paper will also apply the concepts discussed to a real-life case of child abuse or neglect, explaining what occurred by using the areas discussed.
The paper will need to be a minimum of 8 pages, not including the title page and reference page, and must be written according to the style and format requirements outlined in the current APA Publication Manual. The student will be required to include at least 8 peer-reviewed journal articles (e.g., books, handbooks, reports, etc.) that pertain to the selected child abuse and neglect issue.
