Before the Atlantic slave trade, Africans saw themselves as belonging to differe

Before the Atlantic slave trade, Africans saw themselves as belonging to different ethnic groups rather than as “Africans.” Do you believe that people of African descent today should be seen as a single unified group (i.e.- as “Africans” or “Black people”)?
Using at least three sources* that we covered this semester, argue ONE of the following:
1) Africans on the continent and Africans in the diaspora are one unified group.
2) Africans in the diaspora are one group but Africans on the continent should be seen as a separate group
3) Africans on the continent and Africans in the diaspora are not unified and are made up of many different groups
4) Come up with your own argument about the relationship between people of African descent
To answer this question, you might think about what we have read about common experiences of Black people, relationships between Africans and African Americans, cultural connections and similarities between different Black communities, etc. You can write about how the relationships between people of African descent have changed over time.
* The sources can be different texts that we read, my PowerPoint presentations, or the presentations from our guest speakers. YOU MUST REFERENCE AT LEAST THREE SOURCES BY NAME and discuss what that source tells you.
