For your final exam, you will need to create a self-portrait using ANY medium you choose. For reference, a self-portrait is a portrait of yourself, nobody else. This can be abstracted or literal. You may create a self-portrait in the style of Renaissance paintings, or go a more contemporary route and do something inspired by Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, Jenny Holzer, or others. Have fun with it! Choose a medium with which to create your self-portrait. Since this is a final “exam”, there should be evidence of considerable effort in the portrait. (If it was obviously done last minute, you will not receive a ton of points). I want to see thought put into the work. You’ve spent all semester looking at media & artists and should know how difficult art can truly be. Approach your portrait as if you were a professional artist. What elements would you include? Why are you working with the medium you’ve chosen? Your medium can be anything you wish. Digital, sculptural, drawing, painting, whatever you choose. write a paragraph response to your portrait. Do you feel that it’s an accurate representation of yourself? What were you thinking of when working on it? Are you satisfied with the finished product? What elements and principles were you working with?
