Prompt: Think about the kind of mistakes that you have made in the art classroom in the last week (we all make mistakes!). Choose to analyze and write about 1 of them. Was it a stretch mistake, an “aha” mistake, a high stakes mistake, or a sloppy mistake? Trace a timeline of a mistake made in the last class–any level of mistake can be analyzed. Looking at Figure 1-4, consider the pieces that came together to make the mistake. What led up to the mistake, and what was the impact? Now looking at the whole timeline, what could you change to avoid this type of mistake in the future?
For context: the mistake I made as a student teacher was not being able to help a student who became frustrated about small detail within his printmaking design. He became flustered/overwhelmed and I felt like I didn’t know the best way to help him. I felt overwhelmed myself. Please write about this.
