You must write your paper on the same novel that you do your PowerPoint on.  As you read the book, look for a topic that interests you.  Develop a thesis on this topic.  Keep in mind that you are writing a literary analysis: your focus must be on how the book handles its themes, characters, and plot, not on the topic itself.  The thesis should suggest an interpretation of interest to a general reader who has finished the book and wants to learn more about it.  Remember that you are arguing for your thesis—trying to persuade your reader that the thesis is true.  Include short quotes as evidence to support your points.  Refer to critics as well as to the novel itself.
*Use at least six secondary sources, four of which must be from academic, peer-reviewed books or articles.
*Your paper must include a works cited list in MLA format.
*You must refer to every item on your list at least once in the body of the paper.
You will not receive a passing grade unless you include in-text citations and a works cited list.
